Our Philosophy
Recognizing that aging is a natural part of life, we believe the potential for growth does not diminish with age. The 5-5-1 Club emphasizes wellness by motivating persons age 55 or better to maintain or rehabilitate their social, spiritual, physical, and psychological independence. We recognize seniors' desires to live as independently as possible and are dedicated to cooperatively developing innovative programs for seniors with respect and dignity for the whole person.
Our motto is: FUN, for Life!
What Can You Do at the 5-5-1 Club?
Take advantage of a wide variety of social, recreational, and educational programs including weekday noon meals, movies, cards, bingo, walking club, day trips to a broad range of destinations, theatre trips, special events, and extended travel to places like Chicago and Branson.
Relax - Come on over and put your feet up in our living room. Watch TV, work on a puzzle, read the paper, or join others in a game of cards.
Eat Well - Delicious, nutritious meals are served weekdays at noon in the community eenter. These low-cost meals ($4 unless noted otherwise) are served in a friendly atmosphere among good company. Why eat alone when you can dine with friends?! Transportation to lunch at the 5-5-1 Club is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Just indicate that you need a ride when you make your lunch reservation. There is a $2 suggested donation for round-trip transportation. The lunch menu is published in LimeLight, the community center's monthly newsletter.
Monitor Your Health - The 5-5-1 Club provides opportunities for health assessment and education, including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, flu immunizations, and information on medications, diseases, wellness, ethical concerns, and more. Additionally, you have access to an Equipment Lending Library and brochures, videos, books, and magazines. You can also participate in the weekly Walking Club, no matter how far you are able to walk. It's not just great walking, it's also a time of great laughter!
Go Places - Don’t sit home alone because you don’t have anyone to accompanying you on outings. Choose from a broad assortment of outings, ranging from a few hours to a few days.
Volunteer - Volunteers help community center participants in very heartfelt ways. A variety of opportunities are available, including serving noon meals and driving the van. We are always in need of more drivers! To learn more about Volunteer Opportunities click here!
